Sunday Lunch

The best day of the week

Sunday lunch. Two simple words, taken to dizzying heights at The Goring. Dry-aged Scottish beef carved at your table, cloud-like Yorkshire Puddings, steaming seasonal veg and more gravy than you can ever imagine. This is The Goring Sunday Lunch in our Michelin-starred Dining Room, and it is gloriously indulgent.

Signature dishes at The Goring

When in doubt, add caviar

Sunday Lunch at The Goring is an institution, where unhurried pleasures meet second helpings. Under the gastronomic guidance of Chef Graham and his team, expect seasonal British ingredients that are comfortingly familiar yet delightfully elevated.

Begin with a collection of starters that set the tone for a rather splendid afternoon, like spiced duck liver with braised black fig and pistachio brioche or our beloved Eggs Drumkilbo with native lobster and aged caviar. To push the boat out, Cumbrae oysters and caviar await, paired beautifully – or some say, essentially – with Champagne.

The main courses continue the spirit of generosity. Dover sole arrives with its warm tartare and a hint of theatre, while the truffle stuffed Devon White chicken is a soothing, comforting choice. Traditionalists will adore our Longhorn beef sirloin that comes to the table on a silver trolley and is carved before your eyes. Accompaniments include seasonal vegetables, cloud-like Yorkshire pudding and endless gravy.

Our sides deserve a little mention too. We warn you that the truffled Hayselden potato purée is so good you definitely won’t want to share. When it comes to pairing the perfect vintage to your Sunday Lunch, our sommeliers are always on hand to help you find a winning match.

A family gathering, a celebratory lunch or simply Sundays done properly – whatever brings you through our doors – we’ll make sure you leave wonderfully content and satisfyingly well fed.

It’s one of the closest hotels to Buckingham Palace and has entertained every serving PM since it opened; Winston Churchill held meetings with Allied leaders here during the Second World War.
